Monday will mark the fourth full day of testimony in the trial and the prosecution will be calling more witnesses, and is expecting to call Glen P. Jefferson Jr within the next few days. Jefferson, 21, was the third individual involved that evening, the driver of the white Honda Civic Ronald G. Kelly and Barker were riding in. According to the testimony of Christopher Pataky, a friend of Kernich who was there that night, said the Honda Civic nearly struck the group just prior to the fight Jefferson was not initially detained or arrested that night and his clothing was not taken as evidence. Jefferson later admitted to Kent Police that he had kicked Kernich once he was on the ground. Jefferson has also admitted that the shirt he was wearing that night, a long sleeved white v-neck, was splattered with blood, but the blood belonged to someone at the party of the fraternity house who the group had gotten into a fight with earlier in the evening. So far, two witnesses who participated in the police “stand-up” or identification process said they had not been directed to look at Jefferson. He is being charged with two counts of obstructing justice, both third-degree felonies. Jefferson was detained last week at the Lake County Jail for violating probation on felony theft charges from 2007. For more updates, head on over to Black Squirrel Radio.com and KentWired.com.
