Just launched Wednesday, Soundsupply is a new source for music fans to snag lots of great music for a very minimal investment. For a ten days, fans can download ten digital albums for $15: the inaugural drop for Soundsupply, which is available for eight more days as of Friday, contains full albums from artists including Coconut Records, Andrew Dost, Into It. Over It. and All Get Out. We caught up with the site's co-founder, Tim Mortensen, to learn more about the project and the inspiration behind it.
Tim Mortensen and his brother Eric Mortensen combined their experiences in music, technology and design to create Soundsupply as a means of connecting bands with new fans.
"From a music perspective, we played in bands and released records, and there's just a lot of challenges when it comes to creating music and then getting people to pay attention. There's just so much music out there," Tim Mortensen said.
The process of taking Soundsupply from a raw idea to a fully launched site took about two years. To compile the first drop of records, Mortensen said they reached out both to friends and to labels and bands they had been fans of.
"Our goal with all of this is definitely to introduce people to some really great albums," Mortensen said. Ultimately, he said he hopes individuals who visit the site will remember the bands they saw at Soundsupply when they hear about the bands coming through the area on tour or when they notice their albums at the record store.
"I just can't say enough good things about these bands and the support that they definitely deserve."
